Franklin Precision Castings is seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Quality Inspector to join our team. This position plays an important role in ensuring customer orders are accurately inspected, packaged, documented, and shipped on time.

This Monday-Friday / 8AM-4PM, Shipping Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting finished products, verifying shipment accuracy, preparing products for safe shipment, maintaining shipping records, and assisting with deliveries when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect finished products for defects, damage, or other quality concerns and remove nonconforming products prior to packing.
  • Verify finished products against purchase orders, prints, packing lists, and other required documentation to ensure shipment accuracy.
  • Confirm correct part numbers, quantities, and customer requirements before products are packed and shipped.
  • Prepare and organize packaging procedures to ensure products are properly protected during transportation.
  • Safely and securely package products using appropriate materials and methods.
  • Ensure all outgoing shipments are properly labeled and documented.
  • Verify that required shipping documents accompany each shipment, including bills of lading and other applicable paperwork.
  • Enter shipment information accurately into the company's computer/database system, including part numbers, quantities, customer information, and shipping details.
  • Maintain accurate shipping and inventory records.
  • Communicate with Production, Quality, Sales, and other departments regarding shipment requirements or discrepancies.
  • Identify and report quality or shipment discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with loading and preparing shipments for carriers.
  • Make local deliveries when needed using a company-provided vehicle.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area.
  • Operate shipping equipment safely after completing required company training and certification.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Previous experience in shipping, quality inspection, manufacturing, warehouse operations, or a related field is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies or defects.
  • Ability to carefully read and follow purchase orders, prints, routing instructions, and other production/shipping paperwork.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter information into company systems.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and read and write clearly and legibly.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to regularly lift approximately 40–50 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with other departments.
  • Dependable attendance and a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.

No prior shipping certification is required.
